Ingredients

Beef Patties

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup panko
  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1.5 Tbsp mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil

Gravy

  • 1/2 small onion, diced
  • 8oz mushrooms sliced
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • Kitchen Bouquet (optional for color)

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground beef and other beef patty ingredients except for oil in a bowl. Divide this mixture into four or five portions and shape into flat, oval shaped patties.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add the beef patties and sear 3-4 minutes per side. Remove them to a plate.
  3. In the same pan, add onion and cook till it starts to become translucent. Then add the mushrooms and cook till they begin to soften up.
  4. Reduce heat to medium, then add in the butter. Once it has melted and become hot, stir in the flour to make a roux.
  5. Gradually add the beef broth, stirring as you go to avoid lump. Stir in the rest of the gravy ingredients.
  6. Add the beef patties back in and cover with gravy. Cook till gravy has thickened and the meat patties are cooked. Serve immediately.
